The Doctrine of Shouldism.

Being Natural without force / Avoid the Shouldists!

How can we overcome selfishness? When the time is right, one becomes completely sick and tired of being selfish. Just the same for all other aspects of being egotistical. We try to find happiness in ego driven selfishness, but we can’t find it.

But give people their human right to come to that conclusion themselves. Dry, intellectual understanding, or childhood conditioning, or forced false saintliness, or these types of so-called goodness are false, because the person has not being allowed to reach their own relationship through experience. It is only really through feeling – real experience – that we can really understand the spiritual / philosophical truths in life.

When we are finally sick of selfish behaviour will we then seek out the unselfish, but if we are behaving from "shouldist" perspective, we will always be haunted by the thought "..what if?". If we are acting as a celibate monk through intellectual understanding only, then the mind will always be moving toward the sexual with that thought "…what if?" It is these "what ifs?" that show us that we have not understood why we should be behaving in a certain manner. We need the, often bitter, experience to solidify the understanding. Then there will be no "what ifs?" only the real understanding behind the teaching.

We do the most damage to people when we dictate to them a morality or heavy conditioning, even if we are doing it "for their own benefit". As has been said, it is a human beings basic right to explore and experience their own consciousness - as long as we live according to the law of harmlessness.

Wisdom and understanding are best transferred as guidance, not as "rules". This also helps us to overcome the law of resistance that states, "for every force there is an equal yet opposite force." This applies psychologically as well as physically.

- Balance is the key -

May Peace and Happiness be always with you.

Om Shanti.
