A Ukrainian friend of mine has been offered a scholarship in the UK to study English. The scholarships is paid for by the Ukrainian govt. education dept.

They headed for the Ukrainian border at Krakovets with all the correct documentation. They were told that they would have to pay $1700 in cash to cross the border into Poland.



They protested, but the border police told them that if they did not pay in dollars cash, they would not be allowed out. This person saw money change hands at the border post. They are not eligible for military service and they are not trying to cross illegally.

They contacted the police, but the police will not intervene because the border is run by the military. They contacted the Red Cross, but they said they could not help.

This is the same Ukraine which is happily accepting aid and military equipment from all over Europe and has ambitions to join the EU. 

No mention of such corruption in the MSM...
