SATTVIC LIFESTYLE

Now that you have read the above article you will understand the importance of creating and maintaining a sattvic (healthy and balanced) lifestyle in each of the seven centers (chakras).

When we get into the sattvic mode, then we are naturally happy, wise, content, and peaceful.

We can assist this process by doing some of the following:

  1. Create  and maintain a sattvic diet: The foods we eat influences the moods and minds that we experience.

  2. Associate with like minded (sattvic) people.

  3. Avoid tamasic and rajasic personalities as much as possible.

  4. Create a holistic sattvic environment in our homes. Learn how to surround yourself by sattvic influences, for example: music, literature, furnishings, and other media input.

  5. Perform some type of sattvic exercise program like swimming, hatha yoga asanas, Tai Chi, or similar. Certain exercise techniques are designed to increase the amount of sattva in our system. These are usually associated with the more "spiritual" exercise programs such as hatha yoga, Tai Chi, and martial arts.

  6. Consciously create a sattvic mind. Find and remove all our tamasic and rajasic tendencies in our chakra system.
