Weather Information - The climate of the Iguazu Falls: when to go to Iguazu Falls

The Iguazu Falls are located in an area of tropical rainforest, characterized by frequent rains and high humidity of the air, the region’s climate is sub-tropical humid, and is divided into two distinct seasons, the hot and wet summer season from October to March, and the winter season relatively dry and fresh, from May to September.

The temperatures, because of the low altitude ( 154 meters ), are quite hot in summer, and mild in winter. In the warmer months, those between December and February, the average maximum temperatures have values around 33 ° C, while the average minimum temperatures are around 20 ° C. Because of the heat and high humidity during the summer you should carry a mosquito repellent.

In the winter months, between June and August, the average maximum temperatures vary between 23 ° C and 25 ° C, while the average minimum temperatures vary between 9 ° C and 10 ° C.

Rain falls throughout the year, but the months between October and March are the wettest, while between May and August have less rainfall. The average annual rainfall is about 1,900 mm.

To consider that the level of water of the falls is at its highest during the months of December and January. But despite this, the best time to visit the falls are the relatively dry months, namely those between April and September.

The 7th wonder of the natural world is Iguazu Falls. The Devil's Throat canyon is 80–90 m (260–300 ft) wide and 70–80 m (230–260 ft) deep with over 300 waterfalls along its length. Its maximum recorded flow was 45,700 m3/s (1,614,000 cu ft/s) on 9 June 2014.

Tourists from Europe and South America don’t need visa. Visitors from United States, Canada and other countries need visa due to the “Reciprocity Policy”. Further information with a list of Brazil embassies and consulates in Ministry of External Relations’ site. Since 22nd December 2022 a PCR Test is required to enter Brazil, only.

The currency in Brazil is the “Real”. It can be exchanged in banks, authorized travel agencies and hotels. The Brazilian currency has kept a reasonable stability. Now, 1 USD = more or less 5 “reais”. Dollars can be exchanged for Reales. International credit cards are widely accepted in Brazil. There are many ATMs.

For security and comfort pay your daily and minor expenses in cash. Let most part of your money locked and carry only the enough.
With a little caution and good sense you can spend your time in Brazil tranquilly. Small and medium cities in Brazil are quite safe, but while traveling by the big ones just follow a few safeguards as in every major city in the World:
Carry the least valuables you can.
Keep your passport safely stored, and carry its photocopy.
Use your cameras and computers discreetly, don’t show off lots of money, jewels or other objects that could gather the attention of thieves.
Always keep your stuff in physical contact with you, keep them on your front, unless they are locked in somewhere safe.
In the big cities, try to stay in the most touristic areas.
It is recommended that you drink bottled water - we have reverse osmosis, carbon filtered, water in the Ashram.
Electric Current: 110 or 220 volts - we have both in the Ashram but more 220v.

The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
Cancel up to 30 days prior to the arrival date and you can then reschedule your booking free of charge.
